the sleepy sad eyes

it’s pouring outside
cold and darkness spread
staring at me a pair
of sleepy sad eyes
crying for escape
jazzing up my skin
nostrils flared
lips smiled
soul once again- alive 

under the shroud rain

strange to hear
the sound of a beating heart
hammering up against
the steel wall i tried
but failed to climb
